Movement of the fetus is usually felt at about 4 months of pregnancy. It is earlier in experienced mothers, or those who have delivered babies before, by 2 weeks earlier than mothers in the first pregnancy.
Babies move nearly once a minute when they play in tummy of mothers. Yet, movements are not all felt by the mother. It may be logical to suggest that movements which reach the front part of the womb (near the front abdominal wall of the mother) are easier to feel. Kicks in the middle of the womb are not easily picked up by the mother.
Doctors usually ask mothers to monitor activity of the baby inside the womb. One simple way is to alert when fewer than 10 kicks are noticed from sunrise to sunset. Yet a more logical way on top is to find a pattern for movement of the baby. Usually at least several kicks are noticed each hour. It is good alert to inform the obstetrician when the baby moves less.
