A dimension required of care providers is availability. It means nothing to a person seeking help when a helper is out of reach, even if he is a very knowledgeable and careful and communicating professional. When a client is under our care, an active provider initiates support even before he is requested, and at least demonstrates willingness to help. Thus a good care provider is also active.
